A process is a series, a
sequence, an orderly progression.
One step or event follows
another: first this; then that; then something else.
We explain a process to:
1)
describe how to make or do something
2)
describe how something works
Introduction
Name
the process.
Where
did you learn about the process?
Why
is the process interesting, ie why would someone want to learn about it?
Body
Present
each step of the process clearly and in sequence.
Use
transitional expressions to make the sequence easy to follow and add interest.
Conclusion
Summarize the results of the
process or make
a final suggestion.
Tips for an effective presentation
- Be sure to complete the process; don’t omit any steps.
- Use language that
allows everyone to understand what you are talking about.
- Prepare your
presentation thoroughly. Practice it in front of someone.
- Use cue cards with
brief notes. Don’t read your presentation word for word.
- Use pictures, charts or
other visuals to help illustrate the process.
- Prepare and photocopy a list of specialized vocabulary, if necessary.
